At an NYU panel discussion Tuesday night, Foursquare founder Dennis Crowley mentioned that he thought rewarding users for brand mentions and referrals would be a hot forthcoming trend…problem is, according to FTC rules, anything like this would require disclosing that the mention/referral was compensated for… [Forbes]

And finally, not really location-based service related (per se), but Google has introduced Places search – users can now either search Google’s Places database specifically or discover Places information through a straightforward Google search [Mashable]
